Mrs Bassima HAKKOUI participates in the sixty-second session of the commission on the status of women that take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York (CSW)

The Minister of Family, Solidarity, Equality and social Development and president of the Moroccan Delegation, Mrs Bassima Hakkaoui, takes part in the sixty-second session of the commission on the status of women held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018 under the theme of “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls”. The participation of Mrs Bassima Hakkaoui will proceed according to the following schedule:

 

Monday, March 12, 2018:

13:00 – Launch of the “ Sheikha SABIKA” Award for Arab Women organized by the kingdom of Bahrain.

20:30 – The organization of a Round Table on the theme of  “the best practices in the field of women’s and girls’ empowerment in rural areas”, by prohibiting gender-based violence, facilitating the access to justice and by providing them with social services and medical assistance.

Tuesday, March 13, 2018:

-Speech by the Kingdom of Morocco addressed to the general meeting.

10:00 – Interactive debate on “The establishment of alliances for Gender Equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment in rural areas”.

15:00 – Interactive debate on “The acceleration of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Action Platform” to achieve tangible results by 2020.

Wednesday, March 14, 2018:

16:30 – Interactive debate on the National Voluntary Presentation of the Republic of Sudan.

17:30 – Interactive debate on the National Voluntary Presentation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

18:30 – A parallel event on “Achievements about equality of rights to nationality” organized by the Global Campaign of Equal Nationality Rights.

Thursday, March 15, 2018:

13:15 – A side event on “The politics and action plans to stop violence against women” organized by the Ministry of Women, Family Affairs, Youth and Senior Citizens of the Republic of Tunisia.

18:30 –A side event organized by the Arab League about “Legislation to achieve the Millennium Development Goals: Challenges and opportunities”

 

Friday, March 16, 2018:

10:00 –A parallel event on “The role of rural women in the Public Policy” organized by the Ministry of Family, Solidarity, Equality and Social Development.

13:15 – A parallel event on “Rural women in the Arab region: opportunities and challenges” organized by the Arab Women’s Organization.
